A is for Alyson

March 19, 2008

The contract for Island Girls has been signed, sealed, and delivered to Alyson Books!

All right, so it hasn't actually been delivered yet, but the Publishing Coordinator should have the contract in his hands by the end of the week.

That is all.

A Sapphic Account

March 12, 2008

I have splendiferous news to report: my short story, "Mahalo," has been accepted for inclusion in Island Girls. This anthology is edited by Simone Thorne and will be published by Alyson Books.

Below is a synopsis of the book:

Uncover the secret desires of the tropics in this all-new collection of lesbian erotica. From hot beaches to cool waterfalls, ocean breezes to moonlight walks, the spark between women who love women has never been more electric.

When I initially submitted the story, it never reached its intended destination. Other writers were announcing their acceptances, but I hadn't received any notification whatsoever. Worried that my submission had gotten lost in cyberspace, I attempted to contact a staff member and was fortunate to receive a reply from the Publishing Coordinator. He informed me that he never received my story and permitted me to resubmit. This was very generous of him, because the deadline had passed, and he could have said sorry, tough luck. So I'm very grateful that he gave me the opportunity to be considered.

And I just have to share the reply, because it made me absolutely giddy:

Awesome! We'll def include this in our anthology. Mailing out your contract today!

In other news, I recently joined Sapphic Planet, a Yahoo Group for writers of f/f erotica. We have a website now, courtesy of Beth Wylde, fellow Sapphic scribe and the creator of the group. We're putting together an anthology comprised entirely of lesbian literary erotica. I'll be submitting a piece, though the deadline isn't until June 30. As the self-appointed Priestess of ProcrastiNation, this means, of course, that I'll be submitting a piece on or very close to June 30.
