The Diversity of Desire

August 28, 2008

Today is the 45th anniversary of the DC delivery of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s speech, "I Have a Dream." To commemorate the date, Alessia Brio has released the press release for Coming Together: At Last.

Speaking of DC, I will be traveling there over Labor Day weekend. I have a play featured in the Seventh Annual Page-to-Stage Festival hosted by the Kennedy Center. The script will receive its very first reading and I am pleased as fruit punch to have my work included.

Poetic Justice

August 18, 2008

I am delighted to announce that my f/f poem, "Synchronized," will be included in volume two of Coming Together: At Last. The theme of this compilation is interracial relationships. At Last is edited by everyone's favorite erotic altruist, Alessia Brio, and will be published by Phaze in both print and e-book early in 2009. Proceeds from the anthology will be given to the human rights organization Amnesty International.

"Synchronized" is my first erotic poem. Primarily a purveyor of prose, I am something of an accidental poet. I think that my prose has a poetic element, a lyrical lilt, if you will, but I don't really identify as a poet. Hmmm. Am I one of those folks who's a poet and just doesn't know it? After all, I do believe that rhyme is sublime, and I have an abiding affinity for alliteration.

In other news, this weekend I attended Sappho's Salon at Women and Children First. I had the pleasure of meeting two of my fellow fiction scribes from the Sapphic Planet collective, Jolie du Pré and Fiona Zedde, as well as non-fiction author Andrea Askowitz. It was truly a congenial evening.

Quacking under Pressure

August 12, 2008

As you know, I have a fondness for rubber ducks.

(It says so in my author bio, so you know it must be true.)

I am pleased to proclaim that these ducks that I am so fond of have recently achieved stardom!

First my panties, now my poultry.

I hope all this fame doesn't go to my head.

P.S. The pink and purple ducks are part of the I Rub My Duckie line.

Isle of Lesbos

August 4, 2008

Island Girls is making a splash! This collection features my short story, "Mahalo," about a tryst between a hula dancer and a tourist on the island of Maui. The anthology was released on August 1 from Alyson Books and is edited by Simone Thorne.

Below is a synopsis of the compilation from TLA Books:

Uncover the secret desires of the tropics in this all-new collection of lesbian erotica. From hot beaches to cool waterfalls, ocean breezes to moonlight walks, the spark between women who love women has never been more electric.
